What you See
Brunno Chan: Today i am writing about the images, What do you see ?, it was taken in the begining of this year at Av. 24 de julho, in Maputo, Mozambique. What do i see ? its a question that i ask my self every time i see this image.
Garbage,
- It reflects the population of the city of Maputo
- It reflects the state of the local government
- it reflects the lack of initiative
- it reflects the lack of involvement
- It reflects a meal
- it reflects consumerism
I am not really sure what it reflect or what do i see. It is most certainly more than a pile of garbage. for me it is the reflection of people that do no care or that just gave up and is looking for the government to take action. We can blame the government as much as we can but at the end of the day we are the one’s creating this garbage and we are the one’s that has to live with this shit. There much fault to be pass around, the government for allowing this images in their cities and the people that are not doing anything. For me this is also lack of initiative from the local business comunity, this is money to be made, industries to be build all starting on this pile of garbege. It is also a meal for the hungry street people that even in this pile of shit they will find the meal for the day. The consumerism of some will feed others.
So what do you see?

Ugh! Garbage! we want it out of mind so it’s out of sight as well. It’s uncomfortable to see how much garbage we produce. In many countries we have the money to create and implement efficient systems to keep it out of sight. I wonder if we had to look at a big pile like this everyday if it would have a positive or negative effect on consumerism. I hate that this pile is someone’s buffet as well.

Garbage. A person in the US produces 1609 pounds = 729.830123 kilograms per year. Now in the 21 century we waste more than we consume. Maybe if one could see this amount in one place in a single moment, we would see how much we consume and maybe we would try to decrease.
Imagine how many people would enjoy this Buffet.
